Marchesa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally! The most awaited collection from Fashion Week has arrived! And I think its safe to say that Marchesa did not disappoint! The collection transported the on-looker into a modern-day fairy tale! There were ball gowns, tulle, embroidery, elaborate ruffles, and everything required for the modern day princess!
The colors revolved mostly around pale gold, ice blues, and light salmon. There were some standout pieces in bright cobalt, fuchsia, and scarlet. Here are my favorites!
Loved the bright colors on this dresses! And the lovely embroidery on the cobalt and fuchsia, as well as the ruffles on the crimson one just made them better!!

I love love love the pale gold gown (so old Hollywood glamour) and the tougher take on the rose-covered ballgown. I am a sucker for asymmetric pieces!

Loved the black and white mini - the embroidery on the bodice looks like its a part of your skin! The black gown totally blew me away - kind of risque, but in a good way :) And the champagne gown was just dreamy (ruffles - check! train - check! tulle - check!)

Carolina Herrera Fall 2010 RTW Collection

This year, Carolina Herrera's Fall RTW collection boasted a lot of menswear inspired pieces (wide leg pants, pinstripes, felt hats), comfy looking coats, and some amazing dresses and gowns. Most of the pieces were in traditional fall or neutral colors - cream, black, brown, grey - put punctuated throughout with shots of crimson (as seen on many dresses) and metallics. I really liked the black and white or black and brown dresses with crimson additions (on the collars, hems, and bodices), especially an asymmetric, one-sleeved black and white dress with part of the red bodice peeking out (see below).
I'm a big fan of evening gowns (as you already know), and I liked that most of the long ones featured in this collections didn't have the typical tight bodice and poofy skirt. The gowns were well constructed and mostly in metallic silver-grey shades, which looked fabulous! I also really liked the dresses - they all had little things like strategically placed ruffles and other embellishments that lifted them out the ordinary zone. Overall, I loved most of the collection! Now...if only I could get my hands on some of those dresses! *Sigh*...

Fashion Week Continued!

Hi!
Here are some more collections shown at Fashion Week!!

Monica Lhuillier Fall 2010 RTW
First up is Monica Lhuillier! Her collection had some cool Asian inspired pieces, and as well as some beautiful evening gowns. My favorites were the flowing crimson one and the understated burgundy goddess gown (both shown above).

Diane Von Furstenberg Fall 2010 RTW
DVF had some really gorgeous dresses with bright colors (unlike most designers that only use dark or neutral colors for fall collections). The pops of cobalt, reds, and whites really made the collection different from all the other collections! And, I totally loved the gown with the sequined bodice (shown above). I would love to own it - its a toughened up fairy tale ballgown!!
