Lakme Fashion Week | Deepika Govind and Anita Dongre (Indian Textile Day)

It's pretty obvious by now - I loved Indian Textile Day at Lakme Fashion Week. It was great to see a new spin on Indian prints, cloth and embroidery techniques. Here are two more collections from that day!

First up, Deepika Govind's collection Pop Patola took a modern spin on traditional Gujarati weaves. The cuts were clean and the colors wonderfully bold. I loved it! My favorite pieces were: the black and yellow kurta/jacket (middle, first row), and the print blocked dress on the left in the second row. Also loved the pops of yellow in the bottom row's pieces!

Next up, Anita Dongre's Urban Goddess took bright Indian fabrics and turned them into easy to wear pants, skirts, blouses and dresses. It was quite a pleasant surprise and a departure from her usual stuff. I like!

LFW Winter/Festive | Anita Dongre, Shyamal and Bhumika

A few more from LFW!

Anita Dongre showcased a gorgeous ethnic collection replete with rich colors, refined embroidery, and tried-and-true silhouettes. The collection comprised of chiffons, silks, brocades, bandhni prints, tulle and other fabrics fashioned into kurtas, lehengas, saris, and evening gowns. None of the pieces were groundbreaking, but they were all beautiful and definitely wearable. My favorites were the black kurta in the first photo (on the right), the white and gold lehenga (middle, third photo), and the three blue-and-red outfits (second to bottom photo, L, R and C).

Shyamal and Bhumika also showcased a rich ethnic collection with large doses of intricate embroidery, velvet borders, metallic thread work, and some gorgeous kundan jewelry. The clothes were beautiful wish there was something ground breaking about them! Even though the collection wasn't anything new, it was certainly very regal.

Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2011 | Anita Dongre and Anamika Khanna

Lakme Fashion Week is upon us! First up in my review are collections by two lovely ladies - Anamika Khanna and Anita Dongre.

Anamika Khanna's collection featured an eclectic mix of menswear with traditional Indian finery. The dominant colors were black, white, and gray, with punches of magenta and aubergine thrown in. I loved the combination of cropped dress shirts with flowing lehenga skirts, and also really liked the embellished jackets. {Source and Source}

Anita Dongre's Timeless Collection featured soft hues of cream, eggshell, white and dust pink, with gold and silver embellishments. I loved most of the pieces - they looked effortlessly feminine, summery, and very clean. There was just the right contrast between embellishments and plain-ness.

Lakme Fashion Week 2010 | Anita Dongre

Anita Dongre at Lakme Fashion Week! The clothes were cool, especially the ethnic ones, but the jewelry by Amrapali was what really caught my eye! LOVE!

All that glitters in this case, is silver! I love silver ethnic jewelry -- especially statement pieces! Have I mentioned how much I heart Amrapali!
The jewelry! OMG!
