Spring 2012 | Alexander McQueen

FINALLY!! My heart literally leapt when I saw the collection posted on NY Magazine's Fashion central. I really liked the collection - it's the edgiest that Sarah Burton has done so far, and has definite throwbacks to  McQueen himself. Without further ado, here it is!!

McQueen!

Anna Paquin of True Blood fame was recently spotted at the Emmy's rocking a fierce Alexander McQueen dress, and I totally fell in love! After a bit of hunting, I discovered that it is a Resort 2011, and actually looked at the collection for the first time. LOVE (as I do pretty much everything McQueen!!) I love Anna's dress -- it was so fierce and regal at the same time. Like Cleopatra meets woman warrior! I could go on and on :)

Take a look!

Shoulder details of the dress!

This recent collection included a lot of formal tops and dresses with strong, detailed gold shoulders. And I LOVED the shoes the model was wearing!!!

Also found this gorgeous ombre-ish/print-ish dress in the collection! I love the color combo (it reminds of this Satya Paul Sari below) and the scarlet is simply yummy!

PS -- sorry for not updating! School just started and already I have ten million things to take care of outside of normal classes! This semester is going to be colorful, busy, but interesting :)
Stay tuned!!

Alexander McQueen Fall 2010 RTW

During Paris Fashion Week the late Alexander McQueen's Fall 2010 RTW Collection was shown to an intimate gathering in Paris. Although the collection was not finished before McQueen's untimely passing, it was still breathtaking. The collection reminded me of a modern day princess. The pieces featured rich colors like scarlet and deep gold, as well as exquisite embroidery, weaving, and a great attention to the tiniest of details. It is definitely a very regal collection, and it makes me really sad that its one of the last collections that showcases McQueen's genius.
Here are my favorite pieces:

Fashionista.com has posted a video of this collection. The video captures all of the little details that make McQueen's clothes so amazing!

Alexander McQueen Spring 2010 Collection

Here's a look at Alexander McQueen's Ready to Wear Spring 2010 Collection.
The collection included wintry colors (blues, teals, and whites) combined with bursts of bright citrus shades, and lots of black. The contrasts of sunny and dark added drama and surprise to all the pieces. As always, these pieces are hardly wearable on a day-to-day basis (unless you are one hell of a fierce woman like Rihanna or Carrie Bradshaw!), but they have a very whimsical touch to them, as is Alexander McQueen's custom.
I quite like it!

Alexander McQueen

Avant garde designer Alexander McQueen was found dead yesterday. While I wasn't an avid fan, I was still fond of his out-of-way designs. Here are some of my favorites!
