A leave of absence

So....This is probably the last post of mine for about a month, because I'm off to India!
Very very very excited -- I'm going to attend a wedding and see lots of exciting places in the process! But since my internet connection will be sporadic, probably no updates but there will be a million when I get back! :)

I did finish the The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, and it absolutely lived up to all of the hype!! I don't have time before leaving to write a review, but I will write one when I get back and get over my jetlag.

Vogue India

I just spotted Vogue India's cover on High Heel Confidential, and I'm loving it! I wish I could get my hands on a copy, but alas since I live halfway across the world that will not be immediately possible. Anyhow, I love the dusky-skinned models in white, and I love that Vogue is celebrating Indian skin color. I'm fairer than most normal Indians, and all my aunts and grandmothers always seem to be fawning over my skin color unnecessarily! Every Indian magazine you flip through - even a copy of Seventeen India -  is loaded with ads for fairness creams that claim to lighten skin in days - usually with some kind of bleach. Not cool!!

Sorry about the rant, but personally I love dusky skin and I'm really happy that Vogue India is celebrating it :)

An Aside

I just wanted to address something about this blog. I know that I've been posting mostly about fashion and things that people may consider a bit frivolous. I don't want anyone to think that I am simply an air-headed fashionista! I'm definitely a fashionista, and fashion is one of my hobbies. I've been posting about fashion mostly due to the fact its Fashion Week in various countries and very exciting to see new collections from my favorite designers! I promise that this blog is not just a fashion blog, and I will be posting about other cool things once all this fashion week hype dulls down a bit.
