The Lust List | Mawi Jewelry

A couple of weeks ago, I discovered Mawi jewelry from a new favorite blog - the Republic of Chic.
Mawi jewelry personifies my style -- classic, with an edgy and unexpected twist. The pieces are modern and vintage at once, recalling Victorian stone settings and Indian jewelry, with modern cuts and shapes. It effortlessly combines the contemporary and the vintage, the old world and the cutting edge. I love it!

Feast your eyes!

The Lust List | Anndra Neen Jewelry

I was browsing through Elle Magazine's list of Fall must-have investment pieces, and discovered Anndra Neen Jewelry. Anndra Neen Jewelry is a line created by two Mexico-born sisters,  Pheobe and Annette Stephens, in 2009.

New-York based sisters Annette and Phoebe Stephens are the designer-duo behind the jewelry line, Anndra Neen. Inspired in part by her grandmother, Annette Nancarrow, well-respected painter and sculptor, but also by French medieval armour and architecture by Le Corbusier and Louis Khan, they create rustic-glamour rings, cuffs, necklaces and clutches in handmade copper, brass and nickel-silver.
 Trendland, by Anna Katharina
They draw their inspiration from a wide variety of cultures - including the Mexican culture that they grew up around, as well as other cultures from around the world, and use a wide variety of metals and materials to craft the jewels. The pieces aren't exactly cheap (they range from about $200 to about $1000 dollars each), but they certainly are lustworthy!!

I've been looking at their designs, and I am totally in love!! Take a look:

They have already designed some shoes, and these two below were my favorites. Especially loved the design on the wooden wedges!
Here are few places where you can shop for Anndra Neen:

And I leave you with some really cool shots of Anndra Neen Jewelry, shot by Richard Burbridge.

Enjoy!

Maximum India! | Part 2

More from Maximum India!
This time, some of the gorgeous, drool-worthy jewelry displayed from Jaipur Gem Palace

The Gem Palace was established in 1852 by the erstwhile Kasliwal family of Jaipur. Jewellers for over eight generations, the Kasliwals even have the distinction of being court jewellers to Moghul emperors. Situated in the heart of the royal city of Jaipur, The Gem Palace is a must-visit for connossieurs of fine jewellery. From antique jewels from the coffers of Maharajas to contemporary designs studded with the precious gemstones, the shop has it all.
{From the Jaipur Gem Palace website}

Take a look!
A ridiculously opulent necklace and headpiece - made of hundreds and hundreds of pearls and studded with diamonds and other precious gems! It was stunning to look at - the photo doesn't do it justice!

A diamond brooch and tassel necklace.

A beautiful minakari (enamel-inlaid) box, enamel earrings, and carved bird ring with rubies and emeralds.

 Ruby and emerald necklace.

Like I said, absolutely drool-worthy, and most certainly fit for a queen.

Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2011 | Eina Ahluwalia

I recently saw this collection by jewelry designer Eina Ahluwalia, who I had not heard of before. Regardless, I instantly fell in love with this collection of hers. The clothes were centered mostly around reds, blacks, and whites, with refined embellishments in the form of golden zari borders. I loved the combination of simple, clean, silhouettes paired with ridiculously eclectic and gorgeous statement jewelry. Favorites from the jewelry included the trident cuffs (featured with the gold and white sari), trident headpieces, and the fanged necklace in the first photo.
This is definitely a designer I will be on the lookout for in the future!

I LOVE THIS!

    Festival Season!

There is a definite chill in the air, which totally means that Indian festival season is close by! Durga Puja, Diwali, Navaratri -- it's all coming up! A very exciting and colorful time for all of us. Which, of course, means that it's time for a new Indian wardrobe!!

Festivals mean bright color, sequins, lots of bling and hot shoes. Check out a few favorites from my festival wish lists! :)

First, jewelry. Accessories are the best part of a wardrobe -- you can wear something simple, and totally jazz it up with tons of cool accessories!

Here's a quick look at a part of the collection --

I absolutely love Tanishq's jewelry to death -- if I could afford it, I would buy everything!!

I will do a post of jewelry love soon :)

    Spring Craft Fair

We had a Spring Craft Fair at my university today. I took a couple of photos but didn't get a lot since the it was disgustingly hot and humid outside, and I was super busy with multiple meetings for multiple clubs!!
Here are the few photos that I took --
These lovely necklaces, baskets, and bracelets were all made by men and women from Uganda who are HIV positive, and all of the profits go towards clothing, feeding, and educating their children, some of whom are also HIV positive.
I bought this cute yellow beads necklace.

The men and women who created this jewelery and other crafts are sponsored by the Maa-Ma and Paa-pa group, which provides HIV+ men and women with a method to become economically stable by selling handmade items like jewelry, bags, baskets, leather good, and more. The website says:

Through the creation of beautiful Ugandan inspired handicrafts, the MaaMa- PaaPa psychosocial group provides its members with a chance at a life of economic stability and opportunity.
MaaMa-PaaPa Handicrafts not only teaches participants to make arts and crafts and manage a business, but to create for themselves hope in a life where there is little left.
For these HIV+ mothers and fathers, MaaMa-PaaPa Handicrafts is a last chance at making a life for  themselves and their families before the disease takes control.

Be sure to check out the Maa-ma and Paa-pa website for more information and how you can help!

    Guilty Treasures!

What woman doesn't love jewelry?? But being a student, I can hardly afford all of the lovely gems out there, but nevertheless, it doesn't prevent me at all from window shopping. Here are some pieces that I am totally in love with at the moment. Most of them go along with my current princess-y mood :)
These are from artkarat.com - the Nizam collection.

From bargello.com - everything is pretty expensive but absolutely to die for!!
These are all from Tanishq - one of my favorite places to window shop at! See http://www.tanishq.co.in/ for more!

These are both from Amrapali Jewels - they have the most gorgeous Maharani-like jewelry! I am totally in love with both of these necklaces - especially the red one!

A gorgeous head-piece worn by Amisha Patel in a wedding issue of Verve magazine.
    ~
Alright, I think that's enough drooling over jewels for today - more to come later! I promise :)

Note - none of these images are my own.
